Jordan's tourism industry has achieved unprecedented success in 2024, with international visitor arrivals and tourism revenue reaching record-breaking levels, signalling a remarkable recovery and growth trajectory for the Kingdom's vital tourism sector.
According to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, Jordan welcomed over 6.35 million international visitors in 2023, representing a substantial 25.8% increase compared to the previous year. This remarkable growth has generated tourism revenue of JD 5.25 billion, contributing significantly to the national economy and accounting for 14.6% of the country's GDP.
Key Performance Indicators
The tourism sector's outstanding performance can be attributed to several key factors, including the successful implementation of the eVisa system, enhanced marketing campaigns, and Jordan's reputation as a safe and welcoming destination for international travellers.
The electronic visa system has played a crucial role in facilitating tourism growth, with over 500,000 eVisas processed successfully, maintaining an impressive 98% approval rate. This streamlined approach has significantly reduced processing times and improved the overall visitor experience.
